[DeTomaso] Need Collective Wisdom: To Undercoat or Not?

I would think applying bedliner is a superior solution. I sprayed an engine
bay with Raptor . I thinned it and sprayed with an expensive HVLP gun with
the largest tip that I could find (2.4). I had assumed the gun would be a
one time use as I doubted that I could ever get it cleaned. (I was wrong
on that point, it cleaned up nicely). I was looking for a coating with a
very fine tooth. It came out beautiful and very even. Would look great on
the frame rails and undercarriage. I would guarantee that it is lighter
than undercoating with the spray method that I employed. Not even close.

Although, it will not cover up imperfections as well as undercoating if
applied as I did it.

     A A A A Corey,
A A A A Yes to undercoating. There is a ton of debris that gets
     kicked up or
A A A A sucked up as you are driving along. Undercoating protects
     the underside
A A A A from insults from rocks etc, and also provides an element
     of noise
     A A A A deadening.
A A A A I have seen show cars that were just painted underneath.
     Paint quickly
A A A A chips away of the car is driven, leaving bare metal which
     then starts
A A A A rusting. It also makes the car sound tinny and tin-canny
     compared to a
A A A A nice, thick layer of rubberized goop.
A A A A Inside the fender wells itas especially important to
     protect the paint
A A A A from starring from rocks striking the underside of the
     fenders.
