[DeTomaso] Stock steering wheel removal question

 Yes a puller. They have cheap ones at auto zone or O'reilys or I have one you can borrow.Forest

I would like to send my stock steering wheel off to get re-wrapped in new leather.  

I have taken the pad off and the three screws that hold the trim on the backside off.  I have also removed the 22 mm center nut. 

The steering wheel will not slide off of the splines. Do I need to use a puller, or is there a step that I have missed ?
