[DeTomaso] Trivia question: Factory colors and years of production

Mike,

You raise a good point.

When I went back to Marti on the color change, I had solid documentation from service records dated from 75 that had hand written service records that said "Silver 74 Pantera".

I also have a letter from Ford corporate to the original owner (an FBI director) where the Ford executive called his car "Silver Streak" and informed the original owner that it had a recall related to the spare tire. This was dated May 75 and includes the White House mail room receiving stamp.

I included copies of these docs when I requested the correction.

If I didn’t have these docs, I am not sure how cooperative Marti would have been.

Chuck,

Remember, Marti doesn’t invent anything. They only report what is in the Ford records they acquired directly from Ford. It’s somewhat akin to a birth certificate. One can only speculate why the records might be wrong.

I actually find it a bit disturbing that they are apparently so willing to change a report at the behest of a customer. The whole point is to provide a copy of what Ford claims is true. If they are malleable and will make a report say whatever you want it to say, that reduces their value IMHO.
