[DeTomaso] Trivia question: Factory colors and years of production

Dear Mirril,

Despite my presumption that the Marti bunch is a marginal organization, I am pleasantly surprised to learn that they did provide professional and responsive service when you contacted them. That is good news.

                             Warmest regards, Chuck Engles

Well,

I'm not trashing Marti.

All the other details on the report were more info then I had originally.

When I asked them for the correction, they were very professional and I have no complaints with their service.

Color is really the only wildcard that I am aware of when it comes to decoding the VIN.

That allows us to paint our cars any color we want,

If I owned a 70 HEMI Cuda, I wouldn't have that flexibility ;-(

That sure casts some doubt on the authenticity of Marti reports, which have been regarded as gospel by so many marques for so long!

For the record......

There is no paint identifier on the VIN plate or that can be decoded from
the VIN.

My 74 was originally silver.

I sent for the Marti report and they told me my car was originally red.

I then sent them proof that my car was Silver not Red originally (long story
on how I proved it).

Marti turned around and promptly sent me a corrected Marti report.

Who was collecting these?

Chuck,

I thought Marti Reports have the "yours is one of XX silver Panteras
produced in 19XX" statement. Wasn't Michael Shortt working on collecting all
the available Marti Report data into a database at one point, was that under
his tenure with POCA and shared or an individual effort?

Dear Forum,

A Pantera friend is interested in learning how many silver
Panteras were made in '73 and '74. I've checked my books and google
without success.

I *think* that info Is out there. Would anyone know the answer
about the silver Pantera production numbers or where to ferret it out?

                               Warmest regards, Chuck Engles
