[DeTomaso] NPC separating CV from CV half shaft?

Been looking for info on how an outer CV separates from the axle.  It looks like the outer CV just slides over the axle and an outside snap ring in a groove in the axle limits how far the axle can go into the CV.  Does that sound correct?
