Couldn’t help but notice that those were C-17s in the video.

Michael…not too far off the glidepath for Kelly AFB in San Antonio.

Hi Terry,

I don't mean to make light of the difficulty of this, but I'd have to say I'd make more than a few holes in one if I could perform 6 Trajectory Correction Maneuvers per hole.

We don't get all fancy with terminology, though. We call it a foot wedge.

Will.

       Terry,

Sorry, not much to tell. The payload travels in a specially modified
C-5 Galaxy called the C5-C. There are only two of them, initially
created by accident when each suffered an aux power unit fire that
burned up the passenger compartments. They were rebuilt without the
compartments and with different doors that allow for much larger
       payloads than a regular C-5.

The satellite payload travels in a giant can that clears the inside of
the cargo box by inches. It takes about six hours to load it and
requires a bunch of specialized equipment. A second, regular C-5 is
       needed to carry that equipment.

A pair of C-5s had travelled to Florida to drop off a satellite and the
regular one then went home. It takes a couple of days to get the
loaded can to a hangar and unload it, then another couple of days to
return it to the C-5C and load it on the plane for its return journey.
I flew out there Saturday as the empty can had been loaded in the
C-model and it and the equipment had to then return to California. So I
flew a regular C-5 out there empty, loaded the loading equipment, and
then the two airplanes returned to California. We offloaded our trash
and our trash was used it offload their trash, then we all went home.

Just another day in the office. :)

       Mike
