[DeTomaso] Transaxle - Lost reverse gear

All,

Some years ago I had RBT install a .620 gear set and I noticed no difference in transaxle noise

However, upon installation of the transaxle I found that the only way to keep from jumping out of reverse gear was to manually hold the shifter firmly in the reverse position.

Of course I troubleshot it thoroughly, eventually getting to the point where no linkage was connected, the selector box housing was totally removed, and a pair of vise grips used to solidly move the transaxle into reverse as far as possible.

No joy.

Talking a couple of times to Lloyd provided no further tips or explanations.

John Buckman and Ron McCall both presented what turned out to be the answer to the problem.

Thought I would share this so it can hopefully be retained in group memory to help someone in the future.
