[DeTomaso] Transaxle - Lost reverse gear

I think it is just the perspective of the photo shoot that gives the allusion of a larger shaft.
I photographed two “ -0 “ input shafts side by side, with my iPhone, and to this day the shafts seem to be different diameters and length in the pic. I actually measured them to be sure that they were the same !?!

I also have never seen or heard of this failure. It is curious to me that the replacement shaft, I presume Dennis used based on the pic, is longer than the original. It has been a while since I've opened up a ZF, However, I am surprised the longer shaft would fit.

Yep........ that pin falling out will definitely not allow the reverse push arm to engage the gear into mesh. I’ve done tons of ZF transaxles and I have NEVER seen this failure !!! 😱😱😱
