[DeTomaso] A/C for Phoenix needed

1 Like others have said, be sure to have the correct 351c thermostat in the car 180degrees. FlowKooler has them.
2 If you don't have 180degree headers why not just leave the condenser in the stock location in the back?  Less interference with the radiator in the front.
3 & 4 R-12 is getting harder to find and more expensive all the time.  If you are going to work on the system, may as well bite the bullet and retrofit to R-134a IMO.  In doing so, the oils for R-12 and R-134a are not compatible and the hoses/fittings aren't either.  Suggest getting a "kit" with new hoses and fittings from one of the vendors.  A new drier and expansion valve will be needed at minimum.  Any parts you don't replace (evaporator, condenser, compressor) will need to be thoroughly cleaned of the old oil and adapters from o-ring to flare used.  For this reason I chose to replace all of the components and hoses except for the evaporator, and had it thoroughly flushed.  Had to find adapters for the hookup at the evaporator.  Have a shop that does A/C work do the install so they can properly flush and leak check and are responsible for any leaks in the new system.  If you DIY the install and just have them re-charge with R-134 there will be an issue if there is a leak.
>From what I've heard the hood vents don't really do anything for the cooling.
Good luck!Dennis
