[DeTomaso] Something is so wrong with this

Rob I have the same thing on my 89 Chevy pickup. I flip the switch in the
can to pressurize the oil system before starting and my pump starts up. I
need to rewire it to only do this with the key on. It was done for safety to
not pump if the motor stops. My Honda bike has one that works off of the
coil sparking.

This is something I wire up in my cars with an idiot light oil pressure
sender. If the pressure drops off I ground out the coil to stop the motor.

Back in the day, 1986, I owned an '86 Pontiac Fiero 2M6. Fun and quick
car. One morning, my battery was dead. The culprit was a faulty oil
pressure sensor. The factory design had the car's fuel pump run as long as
there was oil pressure. The ignition was off, car parked, but the fuel
pump kept running until the battery died.

I can only imagine a case where an accident shorted out the oil pressure
sensor and pumped fuel all over the place.
