[DeTomaso] Photo of stock luggage area

You are correct about the tubs, I have a total of three, one super early
version, a middle version with the inset and without any hold down
provision and the late version with the threaded receiver for a tire hold
down.
I came across an original spare tire after 10 years of seeking one out and
was perplexed that or did not fit into the recess, I had always thought it
went inside, not that it rested on top.
Now I want to know why, it seems an odd design choice.

Thomas?
F78-14, so appears to be 14"
Total width of rim is 205 mm, edge-edge.

A A When I bought my 1984 GT the spare was in the front, and there
is no
A A evidence that it had ever been installed in the rear tub.
There is no
A A fastening provisions and there were no visible wear on the
carpet that
A A suggests it had been installed in the rear.
