[DeTomaso] NPC: battery charging question

So, does anyone know what the difference is between the Battery Tender and the Battey Tender, Jr. - if you use one tender for only one vehicle battery. (But, I do have one Tender that I do cycle on three different batteries: a free battery, and two motorcycles. I change them every 2-3 days, and this has worked for several years now.) ---BILL

Yes and no. If you connect two batteries in parallel, one with 90% of
its charge left, one with 10% left, they will not receive an equal
amount of current. The battery with the lower charge will get the
majority and as it builds up its charge the current will shift away from
it to the battery with higher charge. Eventually it will hopefully even
out but with batteries in parallel you will not get all of them fully
charged. This is probably not a major issue but good to know. If Larry
has gotten away with charging a single 0.8 Ah battery with his 1.5 A
charger until now, charging any number of the same type batteries in
parallel won't make anything worse at least.

Couldn't you just make a sets of Battery Clamps about 16" long and daisy
chain as many as you wanted ( knowing that the 2 amp charge of a Battery
Tender would be divided by that number ) in a series?
1 battery gets 2 amps, 2 batteries get 1 amp, 3 batteries each get .66
amps, 4 batteries each get .5 amps?

In that case a 1.5 A charger is on the high side when charging a
single battery. It won't hurt at all to have as many as you can in
parallel. If you're charging them one by one you should be able to swap
them approximately every hour, not every day.
