[DeTomaso] Minimum colt cranking amps 351C

Original Battery: Does it have six removeable caps joined together with a vent hose? I still have the vent hose going overboard, and the first cap, kinda flopping around behind the battery. Caps 5 thru 6 long gone. Believe that system of caps joined together and going overboard is shown in the literature, somewhere.
While we're in the 'hood, years ago I was cautioned by an engineer who worked at the Delco Anaheim battery plant to not fall for the CCA "horsepower race", that to get that high CCA number required thinner plates and more of them, which wasn't physically as rugged. This same guy said their Voyager battery was mechanically the toughest. So I used to buy Voyagers exclusively*, until my local guy stopped carrying Delco altogether.
Generally I try to use the biggest battery that fits in the space, in the Pantera and others that's a 27F.
GD
* all except the Pantera which gets a Motorcraft ...

With all this talk of amps and batteries I went out to check mine.
Original! Who else can say that?

Like Sean, I use a 650-amp battery intended for a 4-cylinder Toyota MR-2.
With a McLeod mini-starter, it fires a smoking-hot 10-1/2:1 compression 351C
1st or 2nd turn. It will NOT allow you to endlessly crank an engine that has
starting problems, though. Which may be a good thing!

At least 800 I think but my current one is 650 and it works fine.A For
hot starts, the extra amps could be handy. Are you in Tamps?A I'm
vacationing in St. Pete this and next week.
