[DeTomaso] Alignment for high speed

With only five degres of caster, the right tire will often hit the wiper shield as well. I would not want to steer such a car without power assist, either.

Dear Boyd,
Eleven degrees! Impressive. Do be
aware of my sad
experience with five degrees of positive caster plus stock
rolled
fender lips plus nine inch wide by seventeen inch wheels with 245
mm
wide tires----at full lock it tends to permit the tire to kiss the
front upper outer fender lip. Following that is a notable blemish and
a
trip to the paint and body man for a repair to fix the damage and a
recontouring of the fender flair to prevent future "kisses". The
advantages of big positive caster still outweigh these minor
disadvantages.

I sent my front upper A
- arms and had them modified in a manner
similar to pat Micals. I used
Johnny woods to do the work. His
modification is supposed to obtain around
11 degrees of caster.

Dear Mark,
"6.5 to 7
degrees of caster"......Well! I certainly
think that you've just about
nailed that issue! Not much more to
add
except the puny civilian
alignment specs that I have may be of
little
use at the speeds you
are looking at.

I *think* it is paramount and the other

can send you this evening.
