[DeTomaso] Moving ac condenser to front of car., no, don't.

Boyd,

The location you suggest would expose the condenser to heated air from the radiator. Popular opinion is that the condenser should be in ambient air to work best.

Rob brings up a very important point. The reason for my considering
moving my condenser is to accommodate the 180 degree headers. Last year
I installed a completely new ac system . An authentic Sandeen
A compressor ( if you ever are shopping for a new compressor to replace
the antiquated York comppressor you will notice most ads say"Sandeen
type") or even worse they are just Chinese knock offs manufactured
without license! Mine was an authentic Sandeen and was an SD7 vs an
SD5. The SD7 is a rotary compressor with 7 pistons vs 5 on the SD5 and
has a larger displacement. The bottom line is that it A capable of
compressing a larger volume of Freon then the SD5. I also installed a
Parallel flow condenser a new dryer, a new dual fan set up and A the
new dryer had the correct connections to allow installation of both an
over pressure A and low pressure cut off switch. ( something that was
missing from the original Pantera AC system). So my new AC works great.
It blows colder air then any other Pantera I have seen. So my
motivation is not in any way connected to an attempt to get a more
   effective or efficient AC.
I am looking for the best way to keep my AC while installing A 180
degree exhaust. I already have the exhaust so reworking it to allow the
pipes to exit from the normal exhaust exit point would be expensive and
would also require A a change to the cam grind ( which was designed
   using the 180 exhaust measurements.A
What about thinking outside the box ? I know just about everyone has
seen the Ring Bros. Pantera. My new parallel flow condenser is very
thin. What if I could mount it on the front hood with it's own fans and
suck air from inside the car ( the air that comes to the car through
the front grill and from under the car and exhaust through the hood?. I
could modify the hood (if necessary ) I already have vents in my front
hood. I haven't measured them but I think their area is close to the
area A in the rear of the car , which allows the necessary A air for
   the AC to operate properly.
   Thoughts ,comments?
