[DeTomaso] NEW Magnesium 10 & 14 X 15" wheels

I know of several sets that have sold for what I would consider a lot of money, but I suspect that the number is quite limited. 

 

Saying it another way, they don’t sell often, but when they do they sell for what Julian quotes. Even the 20 sets that he states seems sort of a gamble to me – it might take 5-10 years to sell them all. 

 

It’s good to see them available and I hope they recover their investment… but I’m a little skeptical.

I think there is demand given that a recent set that came up on Ebay sold for north of $10,000. How much demand I'm not sure, but I'd think 20 sets might sell if priced competitively.
 
There was rumor that Wilkinson was negotiating to have wheels cast and minimum order was 200 wheels. I'm not sure if the perceived demand was not there for 50 sets or what, but the idea to have fresh sand cast magnesium GP4 wheels has been circulating for a good many years.

Is there really much of a demand for these?  I have a client who says he can make them from magnesium for a lot less, but that is based on making 20 to 40 sets, something like that.  He is an expert in magnesium casting and uses a proprietary process to improve the strength.

No, just ordanary alumium. No word if just casted or forged. And at least a downpayment of 40% before manufacturing to an Italien company. That's the last, i would do in business.
