I'm neck deep in those Buick/Olds/Rover aluminum V8s at the moment.
One is a 4.3L stroked Olds 215 (Buick 300 crank, 5.7" Eagle H-beam
rods, Venolia forged pistons, ported Buick 300 heads with Stage 1
Buick V6 valves, Huffaker single plane intake, hydraulic roller cam,
shaft mount roller rockers with end stands) that was originally
designed for an experimental airplane. It's going in a friend's MGB
GT. Another that I just dropped off at the dyno is a a 5.0L using a
3.5" stroke Buick crank from the 1960's GM Accurad experimental
program, cross-bolted main Rover block, ported Rover heads, T&D roller
rockers, Extrude-honed Edelbrock dual plane intake, forged pistons,
solid flat tappet cam, dry sump. We'll dyno it in it's current form
then swap on my ported Buick 300 heads and Huffaker intake and a
custom cam. The ported Rover heads will then go on a new-old-stock
4.2L Rover with Crower 50232 hydraulic flat tappet cam, tri-y headers
and Rover EFI manifolding. That'll serve as an EFI test bed engine.
I had a set of the Buick 215 race heads developed by GM for Mickey
Thompson's 1962 Indy car program, along with a matching GM 2x4 barrel
intake and dual 400 CFM Carter AFB carbs but I sold those to finance
another Buick/Rover 4.2L with cross-bolted mains, Wiseco forged
pistons, Carrillo rods and Willpower single plane manifold set up for
EFI, along with a pair of the new TA Performance heads. I still need
to find someone to port the TA Performance heads but those engines are
destined for my Triumph TR8 convertible and TR7V8 coupe.
