Spectre makes a fantastic setup that uses a pair of hoses, inline air 
filters (actually they are conical filters contained within sections of polished 
aluminum pipe) and a low-profile plenum that fits atop the engine.   This, 
coupled with some sort of under-car scoops, would be the hot ticket.   
Increase the length of the hoses, route them pointed towards the firewall and down 
to the bottom of the car, mount the filters to the firewall, keep 
everything away from the headers, and you're in business:
