[DeTomaso] Driving Lights

When I was flying with the Navy, the line mechanics told us to not turn the landing lights on unless the plane was moving. Without airflow across the bulbs, they would generate so much heat they would burn up. Seems like thats true for civilian versions too. FWIW- J Deryke

Ha, yes, very late. Scared the paperboy. Lucky the melted grill was the only
damage. Good thing drywall doesn't ignite at that temperature.

I'm guessing we shouldn't ask how the lights came to be left on, given the "very
late" reference. . . .

1970 Camaro and 1969 H/O 442
Lights purchased from Beechcraft. One night, very late, the lights were left on.
Next morning, dead battery and a melted grill on the H/O.

They were great to move someone out of the fast lane. Everything turned to
daylight. Would light up the tops of trees 1/4 mile away. It was a hell of a
relay system. Illegal, yeah but it did not matter. The good old days.
