There's no protocol for this forum David.
Just prefix any Non-Pantera stuff with NPC.
Otherwise, reply to a subject or start a new one.

Your list sounds about right -  (head gasket, a cracked head or a 
cracked bloc).
Head gasket is cheapest by far and most likely.

Do you know any of your engine specs, and do you know if your mechanic 
is experienced with them?
(small-block fords for instance)

You'll have a bunch of cooling gurus coming online soon I imagine.
