Michael,

Actually, the first lady to win a national NHRA event was the Drag-On-Lady, Shirley Shahan.

Its all about money, sponsors and sets of eyeballs, in that regard she is
good for the sport, as an aside, she did finish in front of 35 guys in a
car that looked showroom fresh. She did not embarass herself or F/U the
car of one or more other drivers.

She did limited races last year to gain experience at the upper level
before a full time and very expensive full season effort, not sure if Go
Daddy can payy that cost alone.

I just think that it is a shame that Indy car impoded in the US, it used to
be the ultimate. Not sure if it can recover, F1 is simply better at
marketing their brand. While I like KISS, Gene Simmons was not a
motorsports genius and the whole CART USAC Tony George fiasco about killed
it. That and a long list of drivers that nobody could pick out of a line
up. WWF has more brand identity!

Plus, of all the first women this and that...true credit should go to
Shirley Muldonney(sp) of NHRA fame, a true pioneer of motorsports.
