If the battery wire was left in that state (just pushed on), what are the
odds for the ground wires at each light being reconnected?, the painter
would have to had removed the lights to paint the car.

Richard,

Re the dash lights, it sounds like you have a bad ground, assuming that the
bulbs, sockets, and instrument light
dimmer are good. This ground is also common to the center gauges. I would
highly recommend that you add a
separate ground just for the temp gauge.

You do remember correctly that the hazard switch connects the wiring to all
four corners. It's odd that you can
hear the flasher clicking, but no lights are blinking. The flasher needs to
have current flowing through it in order
for it to click. This sound like another ground issue. You could also have
a bad flasher.

Remove the negative battery cable and make sure that the connections at each
end of the cable are good.
Clean the stud in the front trunk, and reconnect the cable. Also check to
see that the stud's weld (to the body) is ok.

If you disconnect the nylon connector for the hazard switch, and place a
jumper wire between the red and the
yellow (NOT yellow / black) terminals, this will allow the turn signals to
work. Place this jumper on the wire loom
half of the nylon connector, not the half going to the hazard switch. I
submitted an article re this for the P)OCA
Newsletter in early Nov, but it hasn't materialized yet. Maybe next month.

I also wrote an article in the Jan 2012 POCA Newsletter about replacing the
hazard switch. Among other things,
the article tells you how to properly wire the replacement switch (later
switch) in an earlier car. If anyone would
like a PDF copy (with pics in living color), send me an email.

John
