[DeTomaso] Pan replacement

I just went to take the old ford pan off and found that it hangs on the 
steering shaft.
Before I pull the steering shaft I just wanted to hear if that sounded 
normal.
(x member is out and the coolant lines in front are off.)

It took me forever to straighten the trunnion mount and then to get 
shift gate alignment
so it shifts perfectly - I really hate to take it apart.
Any "hey you forgot" ideas would be great.
