Of course it doesn't seem to be anything simple yet.
I am getting the interior out tonight so I can check the timing and
take a look at the distributor.

Well, that's weird.
I can't think of many things on a Holley equipped engine that would heat just one header.
Check everything you can think of, including all of the valves (opening properly), spark plugs (all the same color), plug wires, etc.

I have a holley 750 with CHI Intake and CHI3v heads. Stock distributor with points eliminator. Thought about timing issues but that probably would cause both headers to heat the same rate?. My spark plugs on the side with the red hot header are a little dark like being too rich, not white or burned like its running lean.
