[DeTomaso] Great Sunday drive video....

I could have events from several drives all mixed up - it was 10 years ago
after all.

But I do remember one drive where a missing-tooth bubba driving a rusty,
smoking Ford Explorer filled to the brim with wife and little kids got so
irritated that about 20 cars blew past him at 100+ mph that he decided to
teach us all a lesson by passing us back. But he couldn't do it - partially
because he had one fist waving out the window while his no-shocks Exploder
bounced and wobbled all over the road like a hobby horse, and partially
because his truck wouldn't go faster than about 60. All the while his
unbelted kids were getting tossed all around the back seats, screaming
bloody murder because they all knew they were about to die. I felt sorry
for them. Eventually the bubba gave up (or blew his engine) and disappeared
in a big cloud of smoke behind us.

Later that afternoon the entire caravan of exotic car speeders and hooligans
pulled into a middle-of-nowhere gas station to fill up. A local police
cruiser slid up next to us and the youngish officer commented on all the
cool cars. After visiting with us for a few minutes and deciding we were
mostly OK car guys he volunteered that his police radio had been lit up all
morning with reports of a wild pack of cars screaming through the piney
woods shooting all the women and raping all the cattle (OK, I stole that
last part from Blazing Saddles and it never really happen that I know of).
Every city and state patrol car in the county was out looking for us locked
and loaded, though apparently we were moving so fast and changing farm roads
so frequently that the blinky-light dudes could never figure out where we
were going in time to setup a road block. If we'd been caught every one of
us would have likely gone to jail and had our cars towed to some podunk
salvage yard (probably owned by the guy with the smoking Exploder and
bruised family) never to be seen again.

We (the speeders and hooligans) promptly split the gas station in every
possible different direction and drove 5mph under the speed limit all the
way home.

No more crazy drives for me.

Correction. I don't remember ever doing a drive with a Viper. I didn't do
all of them, though.

The sport bike had nitrous. The rider was crazy. He had pads and leather.
He hit a tight corner over 100mph, couldn't make it, flew off the road, and
rolled through the farmer's field. I didn't see it happen. It was in front
of me. I seem to recall that someone saw the bike flipping several times
through the field - or something like that. He caught up to us, and was
mostly okay. Randy P thought he had a broken collar bone.

We stopped for gas in Conroe. There was a girl that was all goo-goo over
L's Lambo. He let her drive it 100 feet. Then her boyfriend asked if he
could drive it. L. promptly said, "No!" It was funny as h_ll.

What does it mean to "low side" a sport bike? Lay it down?

All of that happened, but I thought that was on a different drive.

If I remember correctly, on the same Sunday drive the real hooligans low
sided a sport bike, drove a Ferrari Testarosa through a ditch and into a
fence, and blew the engine on a Hennessey 700HP Viper. Or was that a
different drive??

At any rate no Panteras were harmed while making this film.

Just for historical accuracy, here is a pic the camera car. (if the pic
comes through) . The passengers of the camera car were not members. The
speed differentials were greater than they appear as the camera guy zoomed
in on the Panteras as they were pulling away. Inadvertently, he created the
illusion that they were following close behind. Or at least I am told by
the hooligans who were present.

Quite by coincidence, A Pantera owner saw the longer version of this guy's
drive at a Lamborghini owner's house and contacted the camera guy to send us
the Pantera portion. The video was probably an hour long and the Pantera
owner just happened to walk through the room when this footage played. The
camera guy was nice enough to send us this snippet.
