You did replace the cable AND the jacket, right? Because only replacing the 
inside cable will not fix the problem of a worn-out inner liner. A worn 
inner liner catching the driven cable is what normally causes a speedo needle 
to jump and jerk. New jackets use a much slicker liner- often to a teflon 
derivative, while OEM jackets were lined with polyethylene.

If the jerking is the speedo itself (rarely), a regular speedo shop can 
rebuild it. Good luck- J Deryke
