I have received very good help from several of you. Thanks:)
and troubleshooting over the phone with John Buckman, so are some things clarified. bucket motor and the limit switches work great. when I take off the red wire on the relay. then the bucket goes down.:) so one or other gives power to the red wire when it should not be power there. will now test a couple of things on the advice of John.

also appears as if the light switch is bad. see there are many places to buy a new one. Are there some vendors that have some that are known to be better than the other?

Freddy

The car has been sitting for many months, so I suspect (as others have suggested) that the problem is that one of the limit switches in the front has developed some corrosion in that time. Check and clean all connections there, and cycle the switches by hand and see what happens?
