[DeTomaso] oil Coolers?

"Mine is located in front of the RR tire, works great, oil temp always about
40 degrees warmer than water."

Does this seem correct?  Mine is located the same but my oil temps are equal to or LOWER than water temps.  This is also my experience with other vehicles and my understanding of the relationship between oil and water temps.

I don't understand how an oil cooler works great but temps are higher than water.  Can someone help me understand this?
