And that's my pet peeve... distilled mixed with antifreeze or water
wetter is just fine.  For you see, once it is mixed, it is no longer
distilled or DI.  Tap can have a lot of contaminants in it, so at
least if you run contaminated mix, be sure what your contaminants are.
 Some salts in tap water are corrosive and iron and other contaminants
can cause scaling.  The reason DI dropped on a metallic surface can
change that surface is because the metal is busy contaminating the
water.  Mix it with an anti-corrosive, such as anti-freeze, and this
effect is subdued.

Choose your contaminants wisely :)
