What does the cylinder wall look like? If it's ok, then replace the valves
and piston at a minimum.

Subject: [DeTomaso] Engine Autopsy
A few weeks ago I posted about my engine making a sudden rattling noise.
I posted a picture of my damaged #4 spark plug and guessed that maybe the
one of the valves had dropped into the cylinder causing the damage.
I removed the head this weekend and here is what the valves look like.

The valves are where they are supposed to be but something caused the
surface damage to them. Here is the answer

It appears that my aircleaner wing nut came loose and the center post that
screws into
the carb also came loose and ejected itself down the carb, manifold and
finally into the cylinder. Any advice on what I should do now?
Total rebuild or clean it up and put back together?
