[DeTomaso] Engine Autopsy

When I think about it now I get really mad because I have had to tighten that center post 
several times.  I'm such an idiot to have not put locktite on it. 
I haven't rotated the engine yet to see what the cylinder wall looks like.  
I pretty much figure I'm in for a total rebuild at this point.
It's already got .30over pistons in it from a previous rebuild before I bought it.  
Not sure if more can be done with this block.

That is bad luck, I'm surprised the center post made it past the valve. 
 
In answwer to yoru question, here's my opinion; even though your problem isn't what was initially diagnosed, why would you take the chance to reassemble the egine with the stock valves still in place and wait for the inevitable to happen, so I say go for the rebuild and avoid rolling the dice every time you take it out for a drive. What is the cylinder wall like?
