That was my very first reaction; I only replied here since it was brought up here which definitely was not necessary from the very beginning. Thank you for saying what you did! I've tried to be positive for the 31+ years we've been in POCA but some don't seem to care.

I like you both but ask you both...is it necessary that this conversation be
public? It seems to detract from the positive things the club/group is and
should be proud of.

Gee Julian, you are really having a problem with the POCA election this year!
First it was because only one person was running for each office. That really
is very confusing as that has been the case most of the last years and we didn't
hear you complaining before! The last time there were two people running for
one office has been several years ago.
My next concern is that you actually read the inside cover first before ANY of
the articles!! How disrespectful to the editor who spends probably as many hours
a day writing them as you do making $$$ and he does it with just pure devotion
to the marque. I truly have never, but never, known anyone who takes more than
a cursory look at page two.
As far as the error about not removing my name as president you do have to
remember that he starts writing each and every Newsletter 45 days before it is
actually printed and goes out in the mail on time every month. (In essence this
means he is nearly finished with the next issue before the current one reaches
the members.) With a very late comer entering the race for POCA president Jack
was as prepared as possible (as usual) with the January issue as there is little
time to fill in blank pages at the last minute; therefore page two was already
prepared before Les made his announcement. Just be glad that he didn't leave in
the President's Message that I'd prepared in advance if that had been the
outcome. Very little of what goes in the Newsletter can't wait until the last
minute. By the time the printer gets the final proof it has gone through several
proof checks but we are only human on occasionally missing something.
I've thought long and hard about how to respond to your VERY unnecessary email
and frankly, I'm very disappointed to have someone in POCA show such an attitude
to a mistake; you went far beyond what was necessary. My initial thoughts on how
to respond I put aside and decided I'm more dignified than to show the colors
you obviously have which is sad for our POCA membership since you used the forum
as a vehicle.
I suggest you try showing support for the members that work hard for our club
rather than complaints; we really don't get all that many members willing to run
for any office and certainly haven't seen you volunteering, even at chapter
level.
Judy
PS - Think maybe I'll have a run for R/T President since I'll have some extra
time now!

Well I got home and my POCA Newsletter was waiting for me.... I open it to find
contrary to the list e-mail, on the inside yellow cover Judy DeRyke listed as
President, so I'd say the Newsletter editor has some explaining to do.
Somebody's been watching too much Florida voting tactics me thinks... if you
call it publicly it they must be the winner right!
I for one am glad the outgoing President announced the new President with clear
communication and not rely on the newsletter where in this instance there
appears to be some conflict of interest.
