Is there room to slide a hacksaw blade between the back of the armrest and 
the door panel?   Maybe tape the front and back of the blade to protect the 
panel, and just use small motions to saw through the bolt?

Rivnuts are great things but only if they are installed correctly.   A 
spinning rivnut is a disaster.   Lubricating the screw/bolt with anti-seize is a 
good preventative measure to keep them from rusting together.

Mike (whose rivnut armrest mounts aren't spinning--I hope!)
