[DeTomaso] Arm Rest Removal Problem

“Is
there room to slide a hacksaw blade between the back of the armrest and
the
door panel?   Maybe tape the front and
back of the blade to protect the
panel,
and just use small motions to saw through the bolt?”

Possibly
but not much room and I am ultra-paranoid of damaging the panel.

“Is
it not possible to gently insert a screwdriver from beneath, press with
your
hand on the thingy that's turning to keep it still? Often it's only the
first
90 degrees that's the problem. Better than a screwdriver could be a
tool to remove fasteners, it's like a fork so it'll hold better onto the thingy.”

Possibly but the panel is still pretty tight against the door frame. There may be enough room to get a long hacksaw blade between the door panel and the door frame. If not I am going to try the using the pipe and drill bit approach.

Again thanks to all for the suggestions.
Jeff
