[DeTomaso] A rather special ring....

Hi guys,

For the last six months, people have been bugging us about the fact that 
Lori didn't have an engagement ring, and we've been promising that it would be 
forthcoming.   That's because it was a custom design, one that took many 
months to design and construct.   Drawings and even a prototype sample 
criss-crossed the Atlantic before a final design was agreed to and implemented. 

Well, a week ago Saturday, we hopped on an airplane and flew to New York 
City (the flights were free, so why not!?)   Our ring was ready, and its maker 
flew from his home in Europe to New York to hand-deliver it to us!  We met 
him Sunday morning, he presented it me and I in turn presented it to Lori, 
and then we joined his wife and son for a day spent touring the city (Central 
Park, Empire State Building, FAO Schwartz, Apple store etc.) and then we 
flew back home the next day.   They then continued on with their vacation in 
New York, DC, Florida, and a Caribbean cruise.

The ring's Big Reveal was at Concorso Italiano last Friday, but I wanted to 
give everyone a look.   The ring consists of a 2.35 carat sapphire 
surrounded by 60 diamonds, in a setting of a white gold alloy with a bit of 
unobtanium added for strength.   If you look really hard you may pick up on a bit of 
a theme...:>)
