[DeTomaso] Ingnition switch/tumblers

I can second the endorsement of Houdini. The driver's door lock on my '71
was terrible, I was always afraid of breaking the key off until I sprayed
some Houdini in the cylinder. After a small spritz the cylinder worked like
new again, great stuff. I keep a can in the car in case anyone else needs
some.

Dear Fred,

I will address the cheap and simple approach to this problem.
It might work. It is relatively cheap, very easy and terribly simple.

There is a special product to lubricate and clean locks. A
kind member of the forum clued me to it. It is called Houdini. It is
available on line from lock specialty shops. It is an aerosol spray that
one simply sprays in the lock. It absolutely rejuvenated the arthritic
locks on my daughter's 1999 Sable to normal function. It costs about $12
for an eight ounce can. It could work. FWIW, that is all I know about
locks. Well, I know a bit more, but if the Houdini doesn't work then it is
a bigger pain in the ass and it will cost more money. Good luck.

                      Warmest regards, Chuck Engles

After two years of babying my ignition switch, I had the embarrassing event
that I couldn't turn the key and had to have it flat bedded away from our
local cruise night. Is there an equivalent switch/tumbler set up I can
purchase or do I have to bite the bullet and buy a NOS/repro DeTomaso one.
Hate not being able to enjoy the rest of the summer here in Norther Michigan
like I want to. Thanks for the help.
