[DeTomaso] Oil question at last resolved (I think)

Seems that way to me also.
You need adequate clearance between oil at full, to crank. (sounds like 
anything more than 1/2 in)
You need whatever you need in quarts of oil above the pickup. (5, 9, 10 
depending on the pan)
There is nothing magic about keeping the oil surface near the crank.
