Air bleed systems at the rear of 351-C heads comes from NASCAR in 1970-72
when the Cleveland was the Ford race engine of choice. A few open-road and
track racers use drilled holes in the correct part of their heads for common
radiator drain-cocks to conveniently bleed air out. Once ALL the air is out,
no further bleeding is necessary and I wouldn't add them with hoses for a
permanently-on setup. Air bleeding may take several days. If you've ever owned
a water bed, you'll understand that getting air out of any closed container
of water is a long, slow process.
On your fans: are we SURE both the motors are turning the correct
directions? With most sucker-fan systems, they will not run for long at highway
speeds unless something is wrong. Try this: hold a piece of paper up to the grill
side of the radiator. The paper should be violently sucked against the rad
core if the blades are on the motor shafts correctly and the motors are
turning the right way. I've seen blades on backwards and fan motors wired
backwards; both radically reduce air flow sucked thru a core.
And if they're wired correctly to Fluidyne's preferred Bosch thermostats,
the fans will not instantly turn on when the ignition is turned on; only when
the fan thermostats activate at around 180F & 195F should they turn on.
Some Panteras have had their fan relays permanently wired to be ON. I've never
seen a bad Bosch fan thermostat, but.... Good luck- J Deryke
