[DeTomaso] gumball pantera reverse light switch issue

Dear Friends,
 
One final task for the Restoration is to give my pantera rear back up  
lights .
 
When I try and install the original back up switch in the ZF ,the car will  
not go into reverse gear . Take the switch out and the car goes into 
reverse  without issue. I have tried to back out the switch as far as possible but 
still  no way to put the car into reverse gear. 
 
Should I take a cutting wheel on a dremel and shave down the little nipple  
coming out of the switch ? I really don't want to mess up the switch .
 
Does anyone have a picture of the inside showing how their switch is  
installed and adjusted .Maybe the arm that touches the switch is coming out of  
the ZF too far and causes the switch to get in the way ? 
Any ideas?
