Yousendit.com works pretty well...that is a utility that somehow allows your email to send larger files. 

You can also upload the file to Dropbox.com or Sharefile.com, and then give permission via a simple 
email to whom every you like that wants access to that file. Dropbox is free and gives you free 2 gigs of free 
encrypted storage space and you can decide who sees what, via different folders that you setup. It is also 
password protected, but I heard that Dropbox is less secure than Sharefile. Sharefile basic is $29 per month.

I've used dropbox for quite some time and it works great. Not sure I would park all my financial information on it, 
but I know some people that work in the IT industry that do and are very comfortable doing so.

The great part is you can also back up you cell phones on Dropbox.

I'm pretty sure both work with many different operation systems.
