Kind people,

I have question regarding the ignition plunger switch which has finally
failed on the Longchamp (1985 model).

This is clearly a Ford part with the casting stamped with the Ford oval and
the following markings -

8L27 next to the Ford logo on the left bolt slot and D4DW-11572-AA on the
right bolt slot. The switch assy mounts to the steering column and is
activated by a pushrod driven from the key ignition assy. I can find via
Google searches what appears to be a copy but the wiring is very different
(many additional wires from what I can see) and my switch assy has only four
wires connected to female spade terminals in the mount block rather than
what appears to be male bullet type connectors on the replacement switches.

The switch appears to be related to 70's era American vehicles such as
Mercurys, Mustangs, Gran Torinos but I cannot locate such an item in
Australia related to an Aussie made vehicle (not surprising as there were
not that many to choose from)

Any thoughts, guidance on obtaining the switch or perhaps modifying one off
of another Ford vehicle to suit would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Rodney (in Australia)

Longchamp GTS #3233
