No; matter of fact, I remove them from all my cars, since I prefer to trade 
off the 2-milliseconds-quicker response with the residual pressure valve 
for less brake drag. In the GM master under the float bowl, its a thickish 
rubber washer with a ball-check and spring, easily removed. Cheers- J Deryke
