Dear Bill,



          I vaguely recall that Jack DeRyke has mentioned that if  you power
the ignition system off the wrong power source that you can get an effect
much like you're experiencing.  I am suspicious that my be the cause, but I
don't do electricity well and this is a very unqualified comment.
Hopefully, better info will be forthcoming.

Installed a MSD drop-in distributor and initially had it hooked up to a  
Mallory ignition system coil.  It would run up to 5500 RPM then flat line  
like it had a rev limiter.  Slowly RPM backed down to  5000RPM  Friend gave
me 
a "old" MSD II coil to try.  It is flat lining  now at 4500 RPM.  Have a new

coil on order.  If that fails, anyone  have an idea what it could be?
