[DeTomaso] NPC - Cordless Drill needed

I'd look at the family of tools you may want and the battery technology.  I bought a Makita 18V lithium ion set of a driver and a drill, 2 batteries, and a charger.  Then I bought several other tools that use the same batteries, and a couple spare batteries when I saw a good price.  The batteries are easily $100 each at retail.  There were a lot of deals on ebay for bare tools at big discounts.

I would avoid ending up with 5 tools that use different batteries.

The cordless drill that I have had about 5 years has finally quit.  Don't know if it is the batteries or the drill - but figure it's probably just as cheap to buy a new one as to buy new batteries.                --------
So, my question is what brand and model does anyone recommend?   Normal home type use.
Thanks, Bill Lewis
