This is why I include instructions with my acorn set.

Not that people will read them, but...

I think you can remove the acorn, add double nuts (tighten them together...)
and turn the inside one only, which should turn the shaft and not the nuts.

Subject: [DeTomaso] gumball pantera needs to remove a rear ZF stud

Dear Friends ,

My reverse issues that I have been having for months is possibly caused by
a reversed stud at the rear of the ZF case. When my car was being restored
I asked the shop to install Chrome acorn nuts as a finishing touch on the
back of the ZF .

After speaking with Lloyd Butfoy at RBT he asked me if anyone had reversed
the stud so that less threads faced outside and the acorn nut could fit
tightly. He said that if someone reversed the stud it is possible the threads
are protruding into the inside of the case and when I try to go into
reverse the stud is hitting. I said I did not know but now that I think about it,
the only thing changed on the trans are the acorn nuts. The restorer
doesn't remember his name let alone the nuts.

My dilema is ....How the hell do you get the stud out without killing the
threads? I really need to take it out to check.

Any and all help is appreciated .

Thanks ,
Bob Levitt
