One of the side seals can be changed with the ZF in the car, but not both seals.  On the bottom cover of the ZF, there are two
long bolts with castellated nuts and cotter pins. These bolts are oriented perpendicular to the centerline of the car.  If both nuts
are on the same side of the ZF, then you can take that side plate off and replace the gasket and seal.  The other side can only
be done after removal of the ZF.

There are spacers between the back side of the side flange (the part that holds the seal) and the ZF case.  Don't lose these, and
make sure that they go back in where they came from.
