As everyone else stated the gasoline dissipates and probably what no one else has mentioned why the engine's seems to run on a few cylinder's, then a few more until finally its running on all 8 cylinders is- its takes awhile for the hydraulic lifters to build up pressure so it will open the valves properly ( most engines use hydraulics), my 2 cts
