Another major benefit to the idf carb Iis it's economics for parts and accessories. Your average vw beetle with a weber setup uses a pair of smaller idf's, as well as most of the tuner market on IDT's, individual throttle bodies. What this means is velocity stacks, air filters, linkage, hardware, replacement parts and pieces are easier to source. You can tap into those venues to find the bits and explore options. The ida's as we know were more commonly associated with the v8 musclecars, vettes, cobras, gt350's, etc. So complete Ida setups are so exclusive for that market. Idf carbs will flow approximately 90% the same volume as the same 48mm IDA. But the IDF can actually pick up a bit more runner velocity, which the lack of is usually the enemy of most street car interests because it can kill the bottom end. The only "noticeable" difference on the idf vs ida aesthetically is the centeline bore spacing. The idf's use a 90mm center to center bore and Ida's use a 120. (iirc) so the carbs look like they are setup in pairs more than individual runners evenly spaced. But I have found on my small block ford 302 idf setup, most people don't notice or know the difference.
