"At a minimum, you should mill .100" off the back side of the upper ball 
joints."

Yes, that's about the right number.  I made the calculation shortly after the alignment,
and I figured that I needed to mill the ball joint  .104" in order to gain the  0.8*.  That
would bring the right side to  3.0*, which matches the left side.

A while back, I did mill .100" off of an old upper ball joint, just to see how it looked.  As I
recall, it kind of left the boot overhanging into the the area that was removed.  I need to 
revisit this by drilling a hole into the ball joint (perpendicular to the milled face) just to see
how much "meat" is left.
