The plastic tank is an add-on, known as a 'puke-tank' required for most 
open tracks. It is to catch any possible coolant overflow from going onto the 
track and making it slippery. Mine is a tasteful and light 16-oz aluminum 
beer can....If you'll never run an open track, you can remove it, but its not 
bothering much where it is, and at least now you know.   FWIW-   J DeRyke
